| $10 – $15

“Cornelia Hancock’s Civil War” presented by Carolyn Ivanoff

About the Topic:

This presentation will introduce attendees to Quaker nurse Cornelia Hancock and the new Civil War biography by Carolyn Ivanoff.  Hancock nursed fearlessly and devotedly from the Battle of Gettysburg to the end of the war.  This program highlights Hancock’s remarkable Civil War correspondence, identifying the people, places, and events she wrote about. The program provides a frame and context to Cornelia’s world and provides 21st century audiences fuller access and understanding of this unique and fearlessly dedicated young woman.  Cornelia Hancock looked at the world with eyes wide open and wrote not only her story but that of a nation engaged in War. The book is a tribute to her and to all the women of the American Civil War who sacrificed and served.
